Location: Nantucket, MA

Length: Varied: Any length in weekly increments of Monday-Monday — For longer stays Fall-Winter-Spring residencies there is a reduction in residency fees

Housing: Live-in studios with a private bathrooms with a shower. Units have an efficiency kitchenette which has a mini refrigerator, a microwave, and a kitchen sink. Units 3, 4, and 5 have electric cooktops. Units 1 and 2 have use of the common kitchen for cooking. Basic kitchen equipment, dishes and utensils are supplied.

Kilns: Skutt electric kilns

Expenses:

  • Weekly Residency Fees (The weekly residency fees vary as each studio is unique in size and shape and offers different amenities. Additional weeks beyond the first week are discounted by 10%):

    • #1 = $875/week

    • #2 = $950/week

    • #3 = $1,100/week

    • #4 & #5 = $1,450/week

    • Shared #4 & #5 = $1,600/week (Includes $150 sharing fee per week)

  • Clay studio has an additional lab fee which includes one 25 ib. box of clay, use of studio glazes and one complete firing

Workspace: Residents in need of access to ceramics studio with kilns, wheel and slab roller will arrange their studio schedule with NISDA Admin/Clay Faculty

  • NISDA’s residency is an independent, self-structured experience that provides time + space for personal renewal

  • Located on an island 30 miles out to sea, rich with cultural history with a vibrant year-round New England community full of creative people running galleries, museums, restaurants, theaters, and non-profits of every sort

  • There is a shared car that each resident may schedule for use to explore the island or run errands

  • On Wednesday Nights during the summer the NISA community comes together for an art opening at NISDA’s Silo Art Gallery and the Cultural Arts Lecture

  • Thursday Nights at NISDA 3C: NISDA invites the community to come together to enjoy Island Tunes, an open mic session for ACK Island musicians, enjoy great food from one of the island’s food trucks…and participate in creative endeavors!

  • Residents may enroll in one of the many weekly course and workshop offerings at Seaview Farm Art Center during July and August months
