Location: Sheboygan, WI
Length: Short Term - 3 months
Housing: Free housing across the street from ceramic factory and workspace. One ceramic resident will share housing with one foundry resident. Guests are welcome
Kilns: Cone 6 and cone 10 gas kilns -use the kilns used by the Kohler factory
Expenses: Materials not including casting slip, plaster, glazes, and stains
Funding/Stipend: $160/week stipend and free round-trip transportation to and from the residency
Workspace: Large, open personal space within the Kohler pottery factory
Responsibilities: Strong dedication to personal studio practice
Number of Residents: 2 ceramics residents and 2 foundry residents
Additional Opportunities:
No experience needed in casting but mid-career preferred - described as master class in mold making and slip casting, space to work on large projects. Residents receive a vast amount of resources and support for their mold and casting projects
Open dialogue, communication and support with slip casting experts at Kohler as well as a studio technician present to provide support
Access to foundry equipment
Access to photographic services
Tours come by daily passing by workspace providing visibility and opportunity to discuss resident’s practice and work with variety of people
Large cranes and equipment available to help maneuver and create large casted pieces
A car is available to all four residents to use during their time at the program
Periodic artist talks and open houses
