Length: Short Term: 3-6 weeks (October-May)
Housing: Residents are housed in the Library dorm, an all-gender living space. The Library is a light and airy space tucked on the edge of campus. It was the original schoolhouse here in the Plain Valley dating back to 1912. The downstairs houses classroom space as well as an impressive art and faith library, while the upstairs level features an all-gender dorm-style sleeping loft that can house up to nine guests.
Kilns: 3 electric kilns -in addition, temporary structures can be constructed on request for barrel, saggar, wood, and salt or soda firing

Workspace: Artists will be assigned studio space according to their needs and the Guild’s programmatic schedule
Responsibilities: Commit to spending a minimum of 20 hours/week in the studio working on their own projects, as well as 15-20 hours/week in volunteer service to the Guild community. Residents are assigned weekly tasks to upkeep the campus, such as vacuuming entryways and cleaning bathrooms. When the Guild is providing meal service, everyone in the Guild community is expected to do dishes. When the Guild is not hosting guests, it is common to work on projects such as painting studio walls, steam cleaning carpets in guest room, etc. Work is shared by the entire Guild community: directors, staff members, artists in residence and volunteers.

Most programs include morning matins (a time to gather in community and be inspired for the day’s creative work) and evening vespers (a time of reflection and gratitude). While all who are present are invited to participate in these gatherings, they are by no means mandatory.
Grunewald Guild location is a 16-acre campus; an expansive and quiet space for creativity, rest, and community containing 12 buildings: The Centrum; STUDIOS: Library, The Glass Shop, The Paint Shop, The Print Shop, The Pot Shop, The Barn, The Wood Shop, and Writer’s Studio; HOUSING: Fiber Arts, Homestead, The Cabin, Hilltop House, Library, and Yurt
Grunewald Guild’s campus offers a variety of spaces that invite private contemplation as well as group quiet times
The Guild is in a small community, and the nearest large grocery store is in Leavenworth (Safeway, about 15 miles away). There are also small local stores and restaurants to explore
Outdoor activities readily accessible to the Guild campus include hiking, rafting, skiing, fishing, and biking
All people in community are invited to participate in the Guild’s regular community Art Club as well as any Guild programming taking place during the residency period
Residents are provided meals (with the Guild’s programming), and staple foods (non-program times)
