Location: Schuylerville, NY

Length: Long Term - 1 year - September 1-August 31 — Short Term - 3 months - June 1-August 31

Housing: Modest living accommodations

Kilns: Large high-fire gas kiln, salt kiln, soda kiln, raku kiln, pit fire smoker and various electric kilns —Only mid-high fire

Expenses: Materials

Funding/Stipend: $200/month stipend and free firing

Workspace: Fully equipped semi-private studio 100 square foot space

Responsibilities:

  • 15 regularly scheduled hours/week including loading, unloading and firing kilns managing and maintaining studio facilities, equipment and inventory and performing other regular maintenance required in the daily operations of the facility

  • 15-20 hours/week working in own studio working to develop a strong and cohesive body of work, have a visible presence in the studio

  • Interact with members of the clay community and the public

  • Help with their fundraising event, including making at least 100 bowls for their annual chili bowl fundraiser

  • Attend and represent the center at community events, workshops and gallery openings

  • Short Term: assist or teach in our summer kids and clay camp programs while developing their voice as an artist and being part of a dynamic ceramic community

Number of Residents: 2-3 artists

Additional Opportunities:

  • Open invitation to attend all classes and workshops during residency

  • Opportunity to teach adult and youth classes and private lessons and receive competitive compensation

  • A solo show in the Schacht Gallery at the end of the residency

  • If NCECA is within driving distance, Saratoga Clay Arts Center will pay for resident’s travels to and from NCECA and hotel accommodations
