Location: Rosendale, NY

Length: 4 residency programs:

  • Short Term “Parent Residency Grant”: 4 weeks (September-June) (for artists with at least one dependent child under the age of 18)

  • Short Term “Anita Wetzel Residency Grant”: 4-6 weeks (for artists 45 years old and up)

  • Short Term “Studio Workspace Residency”: 4-6 weeks

  • Short Term: “Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency”: 4 and 5 weeks (Fall and Spring) (for artists interested in working with local school students while creating their own work in WSW’s supportive and immersive environment)

Housing: On-campus housing (children are welcome)

Kilns: 3 computerized electric kilns - 2.5 cubic and 10 cubic feet

Expenses: Materials and firing fees

Funding/Stipend:

  • Anita Wetzel Residency Grant: A stipend of $350/week, up to $500 for materials used during the residency and up to $250 toward travel

  • Parent Residency Grant: This grant includes a $1,450 unrestricted stipend that can be used for childcare or other costs at the artist’s discretion and up to $250 for travel costs.

Workspace: *

Responsibilities: Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency: WSW staff and Art-in-Ed program manager work with the school’s teachers and the resident artists to develop and execute a curriculum related to the students’ in-school work in the Kingston City School District. In the Spring, artists teach fourth and/or eighth graders in WSW’s studios two days/week for three weeks and visit the students twice in school. In the Fall, artists teach high school students in WSW’s studios one day/week and visit the students in school at least once.
