Location: Baltimore, MD

Length: Short Term: 1-3 months — Long Term: 1-3 years - September-August

Housing: None

Kilns: 12 electric kilns, 2 gas kilns, 1 soda kiln and 1 Noborigama wood kiln

Expenses: Firing and materials fees at cost — Short Term: additional $200/month studio fee

Funding/Stipend: Long Term: $1,200 stipend; 2 fellowships for 1 year residents: $2,500 annual materials stipend and solo exhibition in their main gallery

Workspace: Semi-private, 10’ x 12’ studio space

Responsibilities: Long Term: 7 hours/week working as a program assistant and minimum of 20 hours/week working on personal studio practice

Number of Residents: Long term: 5 artists — Short term: 2 artists

Additional Opportunities:

  • Paid opportunities to teach classes on and off site

  • Promotion through social media/mailing lists/onsite events

  • Invited to observe all workshops with possible opportunities to assist the visiting artist

  • Clay supply store located 5 minutes away from the studio

  • Fellows have a group exhibition at the end of their fellowship in a large gallery space

  • Long Term: Solo exhibition at the end of their residency

  • “First Arrival” group exhibition at the start of the residency

  • Baltimore Clayworks participates in NCECA and residents are invited to assist in their operations for compensation

  • ACC show participation including selling in the Baltimore Clayworks booth and artists can choose to do paid 2-3 hour demos

  • Long Term: receive invitation to sell work in the Baltimore Clayworks shop
