Woodstock Byrdcliffe Art Guild

On a property nestled in Woodstock, NY is Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild where many artisans and artists create in a variety of media. For ceramics, the residency program mostly takes place during the summer as the main studio is not heated. Residencies can be from three and a half weeks to five months. There is a residency fee dependent on the lengths of stay and housing choice as there are multiple housing options. Residents receive a shared private studio space with nice windows.

Byrdcliffe is a beautiful, wooded property with varied elevation. The buildings look like wood cabins and have a lot of history and character. One of the draws that I could see was the opportunity to interact with the artist of all different media.

The ceramic studio is managed and run by one guy so his attention is on many facets of running the studio. Residents should be able to be self sufficient to get the most out of their residence. There’s a cute town five-ish minutes drive away so the place has both the feeling of seclusion while also having the resources of a small town near by.
